I love The Flash. He has always been one of my favorite superheroes.
So, naturally, I was really excited when Arrow announced that they would be featuring Barry Allen in a few of its episodes this season, with the possibility of a spin-off.
Grant Gustin got the coveted role of Barry Allen and, let me tell you, he RAN with it…pun intended.
Gustin is the PERFECT Barry Allen.
Gustin’s Barry Allen is genuine, earnest, and has a lot of heart.
Plus, CW has laid some serious groundwork for a fantastic new series. The story of Allen stays fairly consistent to the comics, which I love.
There lots of fun similarities for us DC Comic fans to pick up on.
Barry and his twin brother (pronounced stillborn, but actually given to another family in the hospital who lost their child during birth) were born two weeks late. This is foreshadowed by Barry’s bad habit in life of always being late everywhere, as shown already in his character’s appearance.
The fact that Barry was always a naturally slow and deliberate person, especially as a chemist/scientist. So, in Arrow, when asked to save Oliver Queen (aka Green Arrow), he reacts nervously when Felicity needs him to think fast on his feet.
His search for the person who killed his mother and need to free his father from imprisonment and the accusations that he killed his wife.
His wide-eyed, curiosity and love for chemistry, science, criminology and superheroes. (My favorite scene was his nerdy freak-out over dangerously organized chemicals.)
Also, the hilarious irony of this line:
And the ‘Birth of Flash’ scene was incredible!!
I wanna see Barry Allen learning and getting use to his powers as The Flash!
I wanna see The Flash in action!
I wanna see his leading lady, Iris West!!
In conclusion, we need a Flash series in our lives, like, yesterday…
It would be awesome!
Get on that CW!!!
