Hello! My name is Jillian Leedy and I am a 26-year-old writer, copywriter, and photographer.
Currently, I work as a freelance copywriting consultant for LPK: Global Brand Design Agency and a freelance writer and blogger for online publications, such as BuzzFeed, Thought Catalog, and Medium.
In June 2018, I was featured by comicbook.com, who wrote an article about my Tumblr blog.
Not only this, but I photograph events, local institutions and businesses, and travel destinations. My photography has been featured by Women in Photography, Local 12/WKRC, WCPO Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Parks, Graeter’s, and the Northern Kentucky Visitor’s Bureau, on their social media and websites and for their online marketing campaigns.
In July 2018, The Cincinnati Visitors Bureau picked my photo as their 'Summer In Cincy' Photography Contest Sweepstakes winner.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Cincinnati in the spring of 2014 with a degree in English-Rhetoric and Professional Writing, a minor in Psychology, and focused studies in Journalism, Marketing & Advertising, and Communications & Public Relations.
Throughout college, I worked as a staff reporter for the University of Cincinnati newspaper, The News Record. Additionally, my writing was published in Commonplace, a national journal for college students. I also gained a great deal of experience in advertising and copywriting through local freelance work for my clients: Imbue by J Russo - Bridal Couture, the Irish Heritage Center of Cincinnati, the University of Cincinnati - English and Comparative Literature Department, and NIOSH.
One of my great passions in life is charity work. I currently volunteer for the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, the Cincinnati Parks, my local PBS station (WCET), and the humanitarian aid organization, Mathew 25: Ministries.
Over the years, I have volunteered for many other causes, including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Freestore Foodbank, Ronald McDonald House Charities, CAIN Food Pantry, Atria Senior Living, and Llanfair Retirement Community.
Another important aspect of my life is my involvement in organizations that allow me to further education in my areas of expertise, network and connect with others, and give support to charities. I am currently affiliated with the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Online News Association of Cincinnati, the Chi Omega Alumnae Association, and the Friends of the Smokies – Great Smoky Mountains National Park Foundation Association. Within the University of Cincinnati Chapter of the Chi Omega Alumnae Association, I am a member of the Newsletter Committee, involved in the creation and production of the bi-annual newsletter.
Other hobbies and interests of mine include traveling, exploring nature and hiking, theatre, piano, cooking and baking, scrapbooking, card making, crafting, jewelry making, crocheting, painting, ceramics, film, design, and music.
From my time at the University of Cincinnati, I garnered enough knowledge and experience in many different skill-sets to explore multiple fields of interest. Throughout my life, I wish to pursue work in professional writing, journalism, magazine writing, advertising, copywriting, photography, publishing, radio, film, integrated media, and/or communications.
In my spare time, I aspire to one day be a novelist, screenwriter, and/or playwright.
On this website you will find my résumé, published works, photography, advertising/copywriting work, travel blog, creative writing, college writing portfolio, and personal blog.
